My Vision Like most of us, life has handed me many obstacles and I have chosen to view the glass as half full rather than half empty. As you view my work it will become evident that I have chosen to display my subjects in a heroic and iconic state that glorifies their beauty. I love to wrap the model in an environment that is as intoxicating as befitting her beauty. Often, one with nature, the model becomes a part of a landscape that is grander then her beauty. These are visions of strength and pride, of women who have stood the test of time and weathered the storms. These are strong women, who chose to share themselves with the world rather then let the world dictate to them what shall be. You will not see my subjects submissive or in decay. There is way too much of that on the evening news. I respect and admire my models to the point that I place them on a pedestal and hence the reason for so many low to high angels. My mission in my work is that my images create hope and wonderment for the beauty that lies within our world, if only we can appreciate it. Enjoy your journey through my wonderland The Industry “We are a society that is obsessed with celebrity, much of it phony and unwarranted, completely lacking in substance, and often the creation of marketing campaigns.” The modeling industry is no different and prone to even greater exaggeration. Ripe with inflated egos and those who would tell you what you want to hear, it is often refreshing to hear the truth. The things that normally befall others do not influence me. Money has never been a prime motivator for me, though one must eat. The lure of sex is not strong enough for me to compromise my standards, as it tends to be short lived even in ones studliest of days. I am a professional photographer in more then just name as it is my only source of income. Hence I must chose the time, people, and projects I involve myself with wisely as to manage my career in the most beneficial of ways. I know in my heart that the time I devote to any shoot is far superior to anyone else’s involvement that it creates an imbalance in a working atmosphere. Due to that fact alone, there is no such thing as TFP, for the inequity is such that one is always receiving far more then giving when it comes to any model/photographer relationships. I am interested in people, companies and projects with a history. We all have dreams but I have found that a proven track record is a greater testament to success then any whimsical hocus pocus. I am not interested in shows, publications, or events that are not currently in existence. I’ve been there, done that, and interestingly enough, didn’t even get a T shirt. I have found we only appreciate that which we pay for and consequently believe that if you own a Gucci purse you can afford my rates. Nudity is not a requirement to shoot with me but rather a plus if my creativity for an image sways towards that. I respect all those that I work with because I understand the sacrifices one must make to achieve success in any endeavor. I do look for muses that I fondly call my Gumby’s as they are receptive to even the craziest of ideas that befall me. These wonderful creatures are the inspiration that is far more nourishing to me then any food. Without them I would surely wither and die. Take a look at my portfolio and know that is what I offer to you. No more, no less. No promise of this or that, other then one mans attempt to portray you in the way he envisions you. It is my solemn vow to whatever ends to capture your essence for the world to enjoy. If I have struck a chord in your heart and you like my work then feel free to contact me. GW
To all the fantastic models I have had the honor of working with, you are the true stars, I am only the night with which reflects your splendor. Who I Owe None of us in life are anything without the help, support, encouragement and influence of others. To my mother, my friends Matt Conrads, Chris Byrd, Don Bersano, Doc Glidewell, Loren David, Dave Buckner, Don Kirkendall, Eric Bradshaw and countless others, know in your hearts that you are the reason why photography burns so deeply within this mans soul. Thank you for picking me up when I am down, for laughing with me at life's follies, for celebrating any small or large triumph, for teaching me what is important, and for guiding me on my journey. The best is yet to come my friends. |
