Models and others have asked the same series of questions regarding how I operate so I will try to address them here.

1. Who am I:

 James Jackson and after 12 years of shooting weddings, nature, events and model portfolio development, I took a break. I am coming back with a new found sense of passion and love for photography. I could write a long bio; but I will just say that I have been forced to prioritize my life in so many ways…never take a single day, your health, nor loved ones for granted.  While I have done a wide variety of themes, my main goal is fashion/casual/fine art at this time.  I am a minimalist...I understand light and how to manipulate it to get teh results I am seeking. Most of my posted work has been done in the most spartan of conditions (basements, living rooms backyards...etc). We live in tough economic times and spending $1500 for a shoot that could be done for a fraction of that is absurd.  My time is valuable…respect it and I will undoubtedly respect yours.  I am fun loving and love creativity.

2.  How long does a session usually last:

Typically they last 3 hours if shoot indoors and 4-5 hours if shot on location. This includes time to change/go over locations, outfit changes and make up application/reapplications.

4.  Artistic Work/Nudity:

I shoot it and actually have worked with wonderful models  that have benefited immensely from the work. It is not required or suggested and I do not post them unless the model wants to post them. Then and only then do the model and I carefully go over the best/better images for displaying. My old addage is...if you did not plan on shooting nudes...don't take your clothes off.

5. Payments/TFCD;

I typically do not pay models unless there is a special project that I am working on. Clients pay models and photographers. I will consider other forms of compensation (for the model only) such as airline fare, gas and toll reimbursement...etc. All this will be agreed upon before the shoot begins. I will/can travel to models. Make up artists are on the model. I can make suggestions and can/will choose a mua of my choice; however, the make up is on the model. Ironically when a model pays the makeup artist, there has not been a no show...go figure.

6. Chaperones:

I have no problems and actually encourage the buddy system in this business. I suggest that the person not interfere with the shoot emotionally or physically. I might ask the chaperone to hold a reflector or light meter too.


7. When I will I get my images:

I typically burn unedited images to a cd or jump drive immediately after the shoot. I will then photo edit 5-10 images images that I think best represent the concepts and themes of the shoot

  


8. No shows/No calls:

I am only available on the weekends or after making special arrangements during the week. Last minute cancellations irk me and I do not reschedule or try to work with that model again. If we agree on a time and place I will be there (early) and will contact you if I am caught in traffic...etc.  I will contact you the night before or the morning of a shoot to confirm. If I cannot contact or do not get an e-mail confirmation, I do not show up. Gas and time cost too much to be wasting it.
