I earned my degree in 1982 and was certified in 1983. I have been involved with photography for over 25 years and have since moved into a different career path.
However, I do photography for personal creative satisfaction only, not to earn an income. So that would make photography my avocation by definition. But having spent numerous years in the profession, I am well aware of the professionalism and professional work ethic embodied by the profession of photography, and I bring those to every shoot.
But there is more to being "a professional" than just acting like one. The word "professional" is based on the concept of "pay for services". NOTE: I will never turn down money for my work.
I do professional quality work but only consider myself as a semi professional as I no longer use my craft as the majority of my income.
I am always open for TFP work.
Keep smiling....
