I believe that it takes a lot of effort to be consistently creative. Sometimes ideas work well in concept, but the camera just won’t capture it. The best models I’ve worked with were those who were able to share my visions and embellish them as they manifest, or tweak an idea by running through their poses with reckless abandon.

I have little patience for moodiness. I think every shooting session should be fun, or why bother.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM ME:  

My home doubles as my studio, so you need to be comfortable with that. Occasionally a concept calls for location shooting, and I’m comfortable with that.  I have the Morton Arboretum practically in my backyard, so we have easy access to fields, trees, streams and bridges.

Before shooting someone new, I like to meet first for a coffee or tea so we can get comfortable with each other. I’ve found it usually makes the actual shooting session go much smoother.

I do require a State issued photo ID showing your DOB and that a model release be signed. I will not shoot models under the age of 18.

If, on the day of the shoot, you feel the need to bring an escort, you are entirely welcome to do so as long as the person you bring can remain silent, does not “wander”, and in no way disrupts the creative process. The only other rule I have about escorts is this:  your escort can be your mother, your father, your sister, your girlfriend, your aunt, uncle or cousin. You can even bring your husband. I don’t care which just as long as it is not your boyfriend. Boyfriends usually can’t help injecting their “opinions”, as unsolicited as they might be, and that’s a waste of time.

The number of images you get from a shoot is dependent on your expectations. If you’re looking to build a portfolio, you can expect to get approximately 12-15 enhanced images. When we shoot artistic images, we’ll get about half that number. Shooting sessions last about 3-4 hours. I’m completely open to collaboration with my models and I’m willing to modify a shooting style (even in the middle of a shoot) based on the model’s ideas. I am experienced in shooting anything from headshots to full figure, lingerie, artistic, artistic nudes, couples, and family portraits. I am comfortable with shooting just about anything. However, I will not shoot pornography or scenes depicting blood, gore or violence.

When we're finished with the shoot, I will give you a CD with JPEG files of all images in which you appear. Together, we will select the best images and, to those, I will apply photo enhancement and you will get a copy of the enhanced images, too. The entire process from the initial shoot to the final enhanced images usually runs 3 weeks or so. If there is something special you want or need (like prints), just ask. I am always willing to accommodate.
