I was a working staff photojournalist for nearly twenty years and put down my camera for another career field. About a year ago I picked it up again when my daughter and I formed Thousand Word Images as a photographer/mua/hairstylist team. We welcome creative TFP work to build our portfolio.
My images reflect my photojournalism training and experience. We strive to caputure the heart and soul of people rather than just photographing another pretty face.
I learned the art of photography in both formal schools and the schools of delivering publication ready images on deadlines for demanding editors. I started in wet film photography and am at ease in the darkroom. I learned the art of retouch using a triple 000 camel hair brush and had a boss and mentor who is, IMHO, a true master even though she was a dragon to work for and please. Today I am grateful to all these people who forced me to grow beyond my comfort zone and look at my own work with a highly critical eye.
Yes, I do family portraits, weddings, events and advertising. That's the commercial aspect of the business, it is not however our passion.
We love to create images that tell a story and evoke emotion. So if you have a concept, we'd love to hear from you. |
