Located just 25 minutes east of San Francisco... 15 minutes from Berkeley, and just 45 minutes from the Napa Valley... within a geography that has some of the most richly-textured beauty of the SF Bay Area!
I have studied photography and had it as a life passion for 25+ years, including professional work in photo journalism and extensive freelance work in architectural and landscapes. Although it is not my primary profession, I am spending an ever increasing amount of time honing my skills in the areas of fashion and tasteful glammour photography -- finding that the craft of working with a model, capturing her beauty, and then presenting it as a finished piece of art is extremely gratifying. I have tried to bring my "eye" for landscape photography & awe of nature into the world of photographing models. Hopefully, that is evident in my outdoor work.
I endeavor to use Model Brigade as a forum to work with models for our mutual benefit, to help them build professional caliber portfolios while concurrently enhancing my artistic competence. Just like life, photography is a continual learning process. There isn't a shoot that I've ever done where I haven't learned something new in the process.
Those who work with me will find maturity and a desire for perfection, coupled with an easy, open & creative approach. First and foremost, I treat people with dignity and respect. Without a comfortable working environment, the model and the photographic images will never reach their full potential. I also believe that the photo shoot should be about the MODEL, not the photographer. It is my responsibility to collaborate with the model to ensure that her objectives are integrated into the shoot, in conjunction with my artistic skills to produce images that we both can be excited about.
I also enjoy pushing the envelope of style and technique in any particular shoot and am very open to considering image styles that you may not see within this portfolio. I believe I've got the technical competence to do just about anything, but sometimes just need the creative challenge or stimulus from a model. In other words, don't be afraid to ask about doing something new and different. As an artist, I never want to find myself locked in a paradigm.
I am very open to TFCD arrangements as long as a model release is signed prior to making the images available, and as long as the types of shots will build my portfolio & challenge my creative energies. I will usually provide the model with at least 3 fully retouched images chosen from the set of proofs provided, and often more depending upon the type of shoot and the agreement worked out between the model and me.
