I am putting together a group shoot with local photographers and model, and was looking for some suggestions about themes, activities, networking, promotion, themes, recruiting helpers... Basically, trying to avoid any problems since this would be the first shoot / meet and greet. Any suggestions or thoughts from your own experiences with similar events would be appreciated.

I have done several "Group shoot events" in the past. The best bet is to get your roster together of talented photographers, then market those photographers to attract the best models in your market. Pick a genre you want to shoot and go for it.
Keep updating a contact list and gather the needed email adress to keep everyone in the loop. Look for a 1:1 ratio of photographer to model. Try to get a few stylists on board and hair and makeup people. Dot try to controll to much otherwise you will be burried in specifics.
Encourage your photographers to contact your models on the roster and set up themes so everyone involved can get what they want from the shoot. Pick a great location and make sure you have permission to shoot there.

food, changing rooms, bathrooms, time of day are al critical parts as well.

Keep it simple and let the parties involved work on making the best of the time they have. Basically just be a co-ordinator.
